Michael Chandler recently gave his thoughts on potentially moving on from the Conor McGregor fight. In addition, Chandler dropped the name of a former opponent as his alternative option.

The bout between Chandler and McGregor has been planned since the two were given coaching responsibilities for 'The Ultimate Fighter' last year. The welterweight bout was finally declared official for UFC 303 this past June after numerous delays.

That too was called off, when McGregor withdrew from the fight due to a toe injury he had suffered while training. Since then, fans and analysts have speculated about the future of the UFC's biggest star and whether or not it involves a fight with Chandler, who now believes he's fine with the very real possibility that the McGregor clash may never take place.

In a recent interview with Lucky Block, Chandler discussed his future indicating he is still excited about the McGregor fight but won't be disappointed if it doesn't happen. He said:

''I am an optimist by default, so I do believe the Conor fight will happen...But as much as I respect Conor, my legacy is not hinged upon this fight. I am running my own race, and I’m continuing to move forward. I am at the point now where we are looking at all of the options and not just fighting Conor...There’s always going to be life after Conor if this fight never comes to fruition.'' [H/t: MMA Mania]

Chandler also named ex-rival Charles Oliveira as his next potential opponent. The American faced Oliveira for the vacant lightweight title at UFC 262, losing the fight via knockout in the second round. He added:

''The most realistic option for me if you look at the landscape and you consider everything is Charles Oliveira. I love the rematch with Charles. I think it’s a great fight to get the fans pumped up.''

Conor McGregor faces backlash from Michael Chandler for relaxing by the pool

Michael Chandler recently responded to a video of Conor McGregor lounging by a pool and watching a past fight. Chandler joked that the Irishman was attempting to relive his golden days, amid suspicions that their anticipated fight may not take place.

McGregor took to X and posted a clip of him watching his UFC 205 fight against Eddie Alvarez with a glass of his stout and a few cans placed in front of him. He wrote:

''@ForgedStout fridays, ya know yourself!''

In response, Chandler took a dig at McGregor, writing:

''Reminder: discount beer and reliving the glory days is a bad look…''
