Michael Chandler is scheduled to face Dustin Poirier at UFC 281: Adesanya vs. Pereira on November 12. Chandler will be stepping into the octagon for the second time in 2022, with his latest outing coming against Tony Ferguson at UFC 274: Oliveira vs. Gaethje.
Poirier will be coming into the contest after losing to former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira at UFC 269. However, 'The Diamond' had recorded back-to-back wins against Conor McGregor before losing to the Brazilian.
It seems likely that UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev will take on featherweight king Alexander Volkanovski in his first title defense. However, both Chandler and Poirier will be hopeful for an impressive finish, which will immediately catapult them into title contention.

After initially doubting the legitimacy of Islam Makhachev's lightweight title shot, Michael Chandler has seemingly changed his stance.
While speaking to MMA On Point, 'Iron' stated that Makhachev proved him wrong after convincingly beating Charles Oliveira at UFC 280. While discussing the new UFC lightweight champion, the American stated:
"Islam proved that he was who he said he was. I stand corrected. He’s our champion, and I hope I can go out there on November 12, can win my fight, and get that title shot soon."

Was Michael Chandler unbeaten during his Bellator career?
Despite Michael Chandler coming into the UFC with a lot of hype and quickly fighting the cream of the crop, 'Iron' wasn't unbeaten during his Bellator career.
Chandler fought 23 times under the Bellator banner and lost five fights while competing in the organization. Eddie Alvarez, Brent Primus, Patricio Pitbull and Will Brooks all managed to get the better of 'Iron'. Brooks beat the UFC lightweight in back-to-back bouts, with their first contest ending via split decision.
The two fighters rematched at Bellator 131, but Chandler got finished in the fourth round. However, 'Iron' won his last two fights in Bellator before transitioning to the UFC in 2021.
As mentioned, Michael Chandler has taken on the best fighters the UFC had to offer. 'Iron' has faced Dan Hooker, Charles Oliveira, Justin Gaethje and Tony Ferguson since joining the organization. Chandler's next outing is scheduled to be against another elite 155-pounder.
