According to Michael Chandler, his highly anticipated fight with Conor McGregor has been called off. This came after Chandler and McGregor got into a heated debate on social media about US presidential nominee Donald Trump's choice of his favorite UFC fighter.
For context, Trump recently appeared on a live stream of popular Kick streamer Adin Ross and named Khabib Nurmagomedov his favorite fighter. That did not sit well with McGregor, who chose to respond angrily to the Dagestani fighter via a string of tweets.
Chandler responded to McGregor's statement by criticizing him for withdrawing from their bout at UFC 303. Refusing to back down, the Irish superstar clapped back right away, insisting that Trump has no idea who 'Iron' is.
Both fighters then made predictions about their future matchup, with McGregor emphasizing his criticism of Trump's choice.

''My man, it was an abysmal choice for fighter. Be real with yourself, please. Horrific! And yes I look forward to December!.. I will be ready for what you bring and yes you will be doing your backflip alright but it will from of the speed and accuracy of my back hand that will be making you flip.''
In response, Chandler stated that his fight with McGregor is off, writing:
''Nevermind guys…I think it’s time I finally admit the fight is off. He’s still in stage 2 of the 7 of grief pertaining to his career being over. Figured he’d be closer to 5 by now. Godspeed @TheNotoriousMMA''
This resulted in Chandler being traded for Max Holloway, who was then called by McGregor.
''? lol ok lil bro. Swapped out handy. @BlessedMMA what you at December? The real bmf, you know.''
However, Chandler suggested that Holloway will not fight McGregor since he is gunning for UFC gold.
''Max wouldn’t even fight me, let alone you…he wants the title. Don’t act like you hold the cards….swan song incoming.''
