Mike Perry has minced no words when it comes to his standing in the combat sports world, at least in his own eyes. 'Platinum' crowned himself one of the finest boxers to ever compete in MMA, a distinction he feels he is owed due to the crossover success he's experienced.
In fact, he lambasted MMA fighters in general, dismissing their boxing abiliy as inferior to his own. Moreover, he patted himself on the back for the amount of success he's enjoyed as a bare-knuckle boxer, saying as much on his OverDogs Podcast.
"These MMA fighters, man. They think because they practice some boxing and they do some pads that they understand boxing. And they don't understand that that's why I'm having the success I'm having in bare-knuckle, because I've always been a damn boxer. I knocked out so many of you MMA fighters. I gotta be one of the greatest boxers to ever get in the octagon, cause boxers don't go to the octagon and have success, and I had tons of it."

Unfortunately for Perry, unpacking his assertion requires analyzing his combat sports career, specifically MMA, as he claims to have had tremendous success in the octagon. Perry's initial MMA run was exceptional, as he went 9-0, stopping everyone in his path.
However, after two consecutive UFC wins, he was handed a unanimous decision loss to Alan Jouban. Thereafter, he bounced back with a two-fight win streak, before 3-7 in his next 10 fights, including three losing streaks. Thus, his claim that he had enjoyed great success in the octagon is an exaggerated one.
After all, Perry abandoned MMA with an unremarkable 14-8 record.
Analyzing Mike Perry's boxing career
Mike Perry has competed in both bare-knuckle boxing and professional boxing. As a bare-knuckle boxer under the BKFC banner, he is undefeated at 5-0, having beaten the likes of Michael 'Venom' Page and even former UFC champions in Luke Rockhold and Eddie Alvarez.
Unfortunately, his professional boxing career has been nothing but losses. He is 0-2 in the traditional squared circle, being stopped twice, with his most recent boxing loss to Jake Paul drawing significant criticism due to his poor defensive boxing and overreliance on toughness, with little attention to technique.
