Mikey Musumeci pumped for next fight, thankful for ONE’s push of submission grappling

Brazilian jiu-jitsu expert Mikey Musumeci is grateful that ONE Championship has begun to emphasize grappling martial arts. In 2022, ONE introduced two world titles in the submission grappling space.

ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion Mikey Musumeci shared his thoughts ahead of his world title showdown at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video. On Instagram, the 26-year-old US-born athlete said:

"10 more days until I return to compete again and attempt to retain my flyweight title [ONE Championship] in Bangkok, Thailand. This time I will be facing the current combat sambo world champion in my weight class; he’s from Mongolia!"

In addition to being excited about his January 13 battle for the submission grappling crown, Musumeci also commented on ONE Championship:

"So amazing how One is helping our sport grow and how international jiu jitsu is becoming. It should be an amazing match!"

At ONE Fight Night 6, 'Darth Rigatoni' will look to defend his title against Mongolia's Gantumur Bayanduuren, who is a highly skilled challenger and a world champion in combat sambo. He also sports a Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt. The event is live and free in North America with Prime Video.

Mikey Musumeci is enthusiastic about the entire ONE Fight Night 6 event

Mikey Musumeci explains that it is challenging competing for ONE Championship because he can barely focus on his own match. In the above Instagram post, he continued:

"If you ask me what the hardest part of being on a card for ONE is I guess my answer would be, how the HECK am I going to focus on my match and warming up when there are so many great matches to watch before my match 😭🤣. So excited!!!"

On January 13, live on Amazon Prime Video in US primetime, ONE Championship will host three world title matches on ONE Fight Night 6. The main event will be a war for the ONE featherweight kickboxing world title between Superbon Singha Mawynn and Chingiz Allazov.

The co-main event will see Superlek Kiatmoo9 and Daniel Puertas fight for the vacant ONE flyweight kickboxing world championship. Also, Mikey Musumeci will be looking to defend his ONE flyweight submission grappling throne against Gantumur Bayanduuren.

ONE Fight Night 6 features other star fighters that Musumeci is looking forward to, such as Stamp Fairtex, Anissa Meksen, Aung La N Sang, Rodtang Jitmuangnon, and Garry Tonon, among others.
