Mikey Musumeci returns to action against Gantumur Bayanduuren at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video

‘Darth Rigatoni’ Mikey Musumeci will defend his ONE flyweight submission grappling world championship for the first time on January 13.

ONE Championship released the full lineup for the ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video on Instagram. The event will feature three world title bouts, headlined by a featherweight kickboxing world championship bout between defending champion Superbon Singha Mawynn and No. 1 ranked contender Chingiz Allazov.

In addition to two kickboxing world title fights, fans will be treated to the return of New Jersey native Mikey Musumeci, who will defend his submission grappling crown against ONE newcomer, Gantumur Bayanduuren.

The Mongolian grappling star is fresh off capturing his first Sambo world championship and unlike other Sambo specialists who have stepped inside the Circle, Bayanduuren holds a brown belt in BJJ.

Rounding out his skills, Bayanduuren is also an experienced mixed martial artist with a respectable 3-1 record. With relentless pressure and a gas tank to match, Bayanduuren could pose a real threat to Mikey Musumeci at ONE Fight Night 6.

Mikey Musumeci is thankful for the platform ONE Championship has provided him

As a five-time IBJJF world champion, Mikey Musumeci is one of the best submission grapplers in the world. Despite that, many fans were probably unfamiliar with his world until 2022 when he signed with ONE Championship.

After capturing the promotion’s first-ever submission grappling world championship in September, ‘Darth Rigatoni’ showed his appreciation for the platform that ONE Championship has provided, saying:

“I remember telling all my friends [that] all five times that I won [in] black belt [during] worlds was still like 10% of the publicity and recognition you get for winning one match in ONE. So it just tells you how big this platform is, and what they're doing for the athletes. You know, we all work so hard and train so hard."

He added:

“So all these athletes deserve this recognition for how hard they train. And ONE is giving us a platform that we deserve. I'm just so thankful to be on this platform, and I thank Chatri so much for this opportunity.”
