ONE Championship’s first submission grappling world champion, Mikey Musumeci is living his best life. After a successful debut against Masakazu Imanari at ONE 156 in April, the five-time IBJJF world champion captured ONE Championship gold, defeating Cleber Sousa to become the inaugural ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion at ONE on Prime Video 2.
‘Darth Rigatoni’ recently took to Instagram to share his experiences living in Singapore and a heartfelt message about how jiu-jitsu brings people together from all walks of life:
“Living in Singapore, it’s been over a month since I have been back living here in Asia. Around 6 months total back and forth between the US and Asia, and it’s been such an amazing experience. One thing I find so fascinating is that every training I do here @evolvemma typically has 5-7 people from different countries in it! I think I pretty much know how to say “hi” and “let’s go” in most languages now (sometimes in training I speak 7 languages to people 😂).
“What is incredible is that even though we are all from different countries, we all become the same when we are on the mat training. Jiu jitsu teaches us that regardless of race, religion, or country, we are all the same! We are all humans with the same love and passion, and jiu jitsu can be used to connect us all. God bless everyone. ❤️🫰🏻”

Not the first time Mikey Musumeci has delivered words of wisdom on social media
In a world that seems to perpetuate hate towards one another on various social media platforms, Mikey Musumeci is a fighter that is all about love, respect, and inspiration.
As one of the most successful submission grappling stars in the world, Musumeci has routinely taken to social media channels, sharing words of wisdom for anyone who may need to hear it
In another post on Instagram, Mikey Musumeci shared a brief thought on dealing with fear heading into any given situation:
"This fear can make us freeze; this fear can take all the energy out of us. When I have experienced this feeling, I use it as a time to reflect on my life and the people in my life."
Since capturing the flyweight submission grappling title, Mikey Musumeci has been enjoying life, but if he gets his way, ‘Darth Rigatoni’ will step back into the circle against another flyweight world champion, Demetrious Johnson.
Both fighters have expressed interest, but no official announcement has been made as to whether or not this submission dream match will happen.
