Brazilian jiu-jitsu wizard Mikey Musumeci secured ONE's inaugural flyweight submission grappling world championship at ONE on Prime Video 2. He's hoping to inspire people around the globe over the course of his career. In regards to fear when competing, Musmeci wrote:

"This fear can make us freeze; this fear can take all the energy out of us. When I have experienced this feeling, I use it as a time to reflect on my life and the people in my life."

The 26-year-old took to Instagram to spread his inspiring message:

Musumeci—who's a perfect 2-0 since joining ONE earlier in 2022—is already bringing a lot of attention to the world of submission grappling.

Now the ONE flyweight submission grappling champion, 'Darth Rigatoni' is looking to shed light on the most important things in life. Winning isn't everything for Musumeci, who affirms that loved ones are life's true blessing.

Mikey Musumeci hopes to grapple 'Mighty Mouse'

There would be no better way of bringing more fans into submission grappling than having the great Demetrious Johnson compete against Musumeci. In a recent post-fight interview with Mitch Chilson, Mikey Musumeci said:

“I know me and him could bring the MMA and jiu-jitsu fans together and it would be just be a historic, incredible event. It would be an honor to step on the mat with him.”

Believe it or not, the current flyweight king has already responded to Musumeci's respectful callout:

As for his most recent outing, 'Darth Rigatoni' is disappointed he couldn't provide fans with a submission, but he knows it was a great experience:

“I had him in one really tight heel hook that I usually finish, like 100% of the time, and I couldn't [this time], so it's kind of frustrating to me. But I think again, it was the adrenaline, and I felt like my arms got really tired the first minute of the match from that adrenaline, you know, but I'm going to adjust over time with experience."

Likely not even in his prime just yet, it's incredibly impressive what Musumeci has been able to already accomplish. In 21 professional contests, the 26-year-old has come up short just three times.

Be sure to look out for an announcement regarding Mikey Musumeci's next bout. Who knows, it might even be against 'Mighty Mouse'.
