Mikey Musumeci has recently relocated to Singapore after signing with the promotion earlier this year. 'Darth Rigatoni' now goes back-and-forth between the US and Singapore frequently and he's been transparent at how awesome the experience has been for him.
The American grappling genius trains in the renowned Evolve Fight Team in Singapore with some of the very best fighters in the region. One notable training partner and student Mikey Musumeci has in the gym is ONE Championship's CEO and Chairman himself, Chatri Sityodtong, who is a brownbelt in Brazilian Jiujitsu.
Musumeci recently posted about his training session with Sityodtong on his Instagram page:

"Always great to learn from, spend time with, and train with my mentor and friend @yodchatri . ❤️🙏🏻 #blessed"
Sityodtong is not just a friend to Musumeci, he also serves as his mentor in life and career. Being a life-long martial artist himself, Sityodtong acts as a wise, guiding presence to his fighters - something he undoubtedly does with Musumeci.
Chatri Sityodtong describes Mikey Musumeci's skills as something he's never seen before
Chatri Sityodtong has been all praise for his mild-mannered and lethal flyweight submission grappling world champion, Mikey Musumeci. The ONE Chairman and CEO made a rare in-studio appearance on Ariel Helwani's The MMA Hour and spoke about the Jiujitsu nerd's sublime grappling skills.
Chatri said of Musumeci:
"He [Musumeci] calls himself a super nerd. In real life Mikey is the nicest, kindest guy but he literally is that kid in high school who was the nerd. He’s the kid that does math and academics. He really is that smart, by the way. But he happens to be a killer. I rolled with him, I’m 180 and he’s 135 and he runs through me like water."
Sityodtong added:
"Obviously he’s a multi-time world champion but the point is that I’ve never seen anything like it. I’ve rolled with many black belts and this guy is next-level. We have a lot of guys who are like that but I can’t predict who’s going to be the star."
Musumeci is the only American grappler to win the IBJJF world championship five times and is now the inaugural ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion. Just by watching one of his matches - or even just his sparring sessions - makes one agree with Chatri Sityodtong ten-fold: 'Darth Rigatoni' is cut from a different cloth.
