Brazilian jiu-jitsu wizard Mikey Musumeci's first ONE flyweight submission grappling world title defense proved to be successful as he outgrappled Gantumur Bayanduuren en route to a decision victory. Unfortunately, he was forced to injure his opponent during the match.
Bayanduuren suffered three torn ligaments in his knee, in addition to breaking his ankle, after getting caught in a vicious leg lock. The Mongolian grappler refused to tap in spite of extreme pain.
Mikey Musumeci feels terrible about injuring his opponent. 'Darth Rigatoni' told the media in the post-fight presser how he felt on the matter:

"When I compete, I don't want to hurt anyone. I want them to train tomorrow. You know, I don't want to hurt my opponent at all. So I really didn't like being put in that position where I had to break his leg. I'm nauseous right now from doing it."
The New Jersey native added:
"I'm a really gentle training partner. I don't hurt anyone I roll with. So it definitely pulled out a part of me that I didn't like. It's just stupid. I just thought it was a waste of him doing that to his leg."
Musumeci is a perfect 3-0 inside the circle, with victories over Masakazu Imanari, Cleber Sousa, and the aforementioned Bayanduuren.

Mikey Musumeci doesn't envision match with Kade Ruotolo due to weight discrepancy
Mikey Musumeci, along with fellow grapplers like the Ruotolo brothers and Danielle Kelly, is focused on bringing more mainstream attention to the sport.
However, the 26-year-old doesn't feel a match with Kade Ruotolo is feasible considering the weight difference. Musumeci told reporters:
“Kade is like two weight classes above me. He's 170, I'm 135. So I just really want to focus on my division right now. I don't really plan on going up. I plan to be in it for like 15 years. So I need my body to be healthy. By doing heavier divisions, I'll probably have to stop competing a lot sooner because they'll be too much to take down.”
Kade is currently the ONE Championship lightweight submission grappling champ and is significantly bigger than Musumeci. A more likely matchup for 'Darth Rigatoni' is Demetrious Johnson, if he's inclined to compete in a grappling match.
