The rivalry between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier continues to be one of the fan favorites despite the prolonged time that has passed since their last fight. As of now, both Jones and Cormier have moved over it. But the ESPN MMA journalist, Brett Okamoto, recently expressed that he never wanted the heated Jones vs. Cormier feud to cool down.
Jones has shared the octagon with a plethora of fighters to date. But he never hated any of them like Cormier. The buildup to their canceled fight at UFC 178 was a thoroughly chaotic one, with the fighters getting into a brawl at the press conference. Jones took on Cormier for the first time at UFC 182, where he won via a unanimous decision.
The scenes ahead of their second fight at UFC 214 weren't any different. Both 'Bones' and 'DC' hurled an array of insults at each other during the pre-fight events. But Cormier failed to get the better of Jones in their second encounter too, as he surrendered to latter's strikes in the third round. Later, Jones' victory was turned into a no contest after he failed the post-fight drug test.
However, ESPN MMA recently highlighted a one-year-old video which showcased that Cormier and Jones had moved over their heated rivalry with the passage of time. It displayed the former rivals having a wholesome conversation over a call. But Cormier's action at the end of the video indicated that there was still some fire left under the ashes of their rivalry.

Okamoto looked pretty impressed with Cormier's action. He left a hilariously reply in the comments section of the post.
"Lol. I hope it’s [the Jones vs. Cormier beef is] never squashed, ever. Real rivalries are the best."
Daniel Cormier shares his take on Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic encounter at UFC 309
Jon Jones will make his return to the octagon on Nov. 16 at the UFC 309 main event against Stipe Miocic. This fight will also mark Miocic's return to the octagon after a prolonged hiatus of more than three and a half years.
Cormier gave out his views about his former rival's upcoming encounter during the latest episode of ESPN MMA's Good Guy/Bad Guy podcast. He took Jones' and Miocic's commendable UFC records into notice and compared the fight to the coveted Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Conor McGregor encounter at UFC 229. Cormier said:
"Conor McGregor and Khabib [Nurmagomedov] fought, and it was bigger than just for the division. When you have big fights, sometimes it feels like this fight means more to the entire sport. It feels like that with this one [the upcoming Jones vs. Miocic fight]."
