The MMA world was collectively shocked at the scenes that unfolded during the main event of Fury FC 76 on Friday night between Edgar Chairez and Gianni Vasquez.
In the fourth round of the fight, Chairez caught Vasquez in a well-executed triangle submission. Vasquez was put to sleep before he could tap, but somehow referee Frank Collazo failed to notice that he was unconscious.
The commentary team began screaming, presumably at Collazo, that Vasquez was unconscious. Chairez, who was still in fight mode, transitioned from a triangle choke to an armbar. Hoping to force a tap, Chairez cranked on the arm of an unconscious Vasquez. After several seconds of his arm being severely contorted, Vasquez regained consciousness and began tapping to the armbar.
The entire sequence lasted roughly 45 seconds, and the video uploaded by MMA journalist Alex Behunin makes for rough viewing.

Shortly after posting the video on Twitter, Behunin provided an update on the condition of Vasquez. He said this:
"A little update: Gianni Vazquez was rushed to the ER after his fight and he can’t move his arm. He hasn’t seen the doctor yet but at best it’s a severe arm dislocation."

MMA Twitter went into meltdown over the footage, with insults being hurled at Frank Collazo left, right, and center.
Twitter user @bosox_730 believes that Collazo has set the standard for the worst referee of all time, and said this:
"Wow. This is truly the benchmark for worst referee ever"
@MMAHendrix appears to agree, and stated the following:
"This is not one of the worst this is the worst"
Former UFC fighter Jeff Molina weighed in on the shocking footage, and said this:
"WHAT IN THE ACTUAL F**K. Never let that man be near any competition setting again"
@Otterbruce also blamed the corner of Vasquez for not throwing the towel in when their fighter was clearly unconscious.
Paulo Costa jokingly claims that he will be the first fighter in MMA history to earn $1 billion
Paulo Costa's recent negotiation issues with the UFC have been well-documented. 'Borrachinha' was scheduled to face Robert Whittaker at UFC 284 in January, but withdrew from the bout due to issues with his contract.
According to Costa, he would have made the same amount of money to fight Whittaker as he did when he made his UFC debut.
But news emerged yesterday that Paulo Costa had signed a new deal with the promotion. He took to Twitter to declare that he will be the first fighter in MMA history to make $1 billion. He said this:
"This MTFK gonna be the first to make 1 Billion dollars in MMA #SecretJuice mark my words mtfkrs"
