As for the MMA scene, Pereira had quite a successful year, answering the promotion's calls and saving their big pay-per-view events when they needed a last-minute substitute. This year, his first octagon appearance came at the historic UFC 300 where the Brazilian defended his light heavyweight title via an opening-round knockout against Jamahal Hill.
Pereira's next title defense came on short notice against Jiri Prochazka at UFC 303, where he ended the fight with a devastating head kick. 'Poatan' finished the year on a high note, knocking out Khalil Rountree Jr. in the fourth round at UFC 307.
Pereira was selected 2024 MMA Fighter of the Year at the World MMA Awards in recognition of his performances during the year.
