ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 is a master of the striking arts.
Whilst he admits that he still has a lot to improve on, ‘The Kicking Machine’ is one of the most dangerous and versatile competitors in the world today.
Ahead of the first defense of his world championship at ONE Fight Night 8 against Danial Williams, the champ recently took a trip to the United States and returned with a new possibility in mind.
In an interview with ONE Championship, he said:

“I went there as ONE world champion. The fans were glad to see me again with the belt. I was also super happy.”
He went on to say that during his travels, he got to experience something new for the first time:
“I had a chance to try a little bit of MMA practice. I was curious to know how to escape submissions. I tried MMA at several gyms I visited.”
After getting past his initial concerns around MMA, the kickboxing titleholder hinted at a potential switch to the sport in the future:
“I confess that I was afraid of MMA, previously. But after I tried it, I found that MMA is not as scary as I thought. Maybe if I defend my kickboxing belt against Rodtang, and challenge Rodtang for his Muay Thai gold, I may try MMA next.”
Superlek was originally scheduled to face Rodtang at ONE Fight Night 8, but ‘The Iron Man’ pulled out of the contest due to an injury.
Superlek to face Danial Williams at ONE Fight Night 8
In the first defense of his recently obtained ONE flyweight kickboxing world championship, Superlek Kiamtoo9 will face a late-notice opponent.
‘The Kicking Machine’ was originally scheduled to compete in a striking superfight between two of Thailand’s finest. At ONE Fight Night 8 on March 24, the champ was set to try and snap the incredible streak of Rodtang Jitmaungnon, simultaneously denying him the chance to become a two sport world champion.
Just a few days before the event, ONE Championship announced that Rodtang had suffered an injury in training and would no longer be competing at the main event.
The promotion also announced that Danial Williams would be stepping into the main event to challenge Superlek. Whilst it isn’t the dream matchup that fans had been looking forward to, Williams has gained a reputation for putting on great fights for the fans each and every time he steps inside the circle.
As Williams comes into the fight with nothing to lose, the defending champion must be careful to not underestimate his opponent and get his hand raised at the end of the night by any means necessary.
ONE Fight Night 8 is live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium on March 24. The entire event is live and free for North American viewers via Prime Video.
