One could say that boxing legend Muhammad Ali authored the playbook on trash-talking which MMA greats like Conor McGregor and Chael Sonnen later improved upon.
In a recent interview with TMZSports, the legendary heavyweight champion's grandson Biaggio Ali Walsh opined that his grandfather would've loved UFC superstar Conor McGregor's signature trash-talking. The MMA fighter said:
"I think he would've loved it [MMA]. Especially when you know when [Conor] McGregor was in featherweight in the UFC when he fought [Jose] Aldo, that whole reign. He would've loved it. Especially like Conor's trash talk and... you know Poppy [As Ali Walsh call's his grandfather] started trash-talk. He would've been super entertained."

When Conor McGregor responded to Dana White comparing him to the great Muhammad Ali
During the pre-fight press conference for UFC 229, UFC megastar Conor McGregor responded to Dana White's comments that the Irishman's mental warfare game had surpassed even the great Muhammad Ali's.
Despite 'The Notorious' thanking the UFC president for his kind words, he humbly stated that he could never compare himself to the greatness of the boxing legend:
"He [Dana White] saying about Muhammad Ali and the mental warfare, I respect that and appreciate that, but Muhammad Ali is a special, special individual... I'm not even close to that man's greatness. The things he has done during his career, he is a special individual."
"And to even have my name next to that man is a truly proud moment for me. So thank you all, but I cannot compare myself to that great man."
