Former ONE Championship and UFC flyweight king 'Mighty Mouse' Demetrious Johnson has had a legendary career in his time at the top of the mixed martial arts world.
But the 38-year-old AMC Pankration and Evolve MMA product singles out one major turning point in his career that led him to the world's largest martial arts organization. That was losing to Henry Cejudo.
Johnson dropped a close split decision defeat to 'Triple C' in Aug. 2018 at UFC 227. In an instant, 'Mighty Mouse' was no longer a UFC champion, which opened the door to him signing with ONE Championship.
Speaking to MMA Fighting in a recent interview, Johnson detailed what had happened.

'Mighty Mouse' said:
"Yeah, I mean, I'm so glad. If I had a crystal ball and I could see through and forsee the future and if it was like, okay, if I were to beat Henry [Cejudo], my black a** would be stuck in the UFC, still fighting tooth and nail for more money, or if I would have looked in there like, I should lose and I were to go over to ONE Championship and make more money, we're gonna lose this fu**ing fight now.
Johnson continued:
"It's okay, don't worry about it, right? But everything worked out for the way it is. I believe God has a plan, and I believe that the way it played out was the way it should have played out."
Demetrious Johnson on ONE Championship: "We have the best strikers on the planet"
You heard it from the legend himself. ONE Championship is home to the world's greatest strikers.
'Mighty Mouse' Demetrious Johnson believes ONE has some absolute killers in its Muay Thai and kickboxing ranks. He told MMA Fighting:
"I feel comfortable saying that we have the best strikers on the planet because we have kickboxing and Muay Thai. Like, if you put Superlek against an MMA guy in a Muay Thai fight, you believe he's going to win 1,000 percent."
