Demetrious Johnson may be one of the top pound-for-pound MMA fighters, but with the controller, he’s one of us.
That’s not to say he isn’t also a prolific gamer (his Twitch channel has an enormous following), but when it came to the Elden Ring game, he struggled to wrap it up.
Speaking to the South China Morning Post, Demetrious Johnson discussed his lengthy experience with the game:
It’s hard. The fire journey took me about six hours. The last boss took me about three-and-a-half hours. Just dying over and over and getting the patterns down and having the perfect run. It just takes a perfect and consistent run.

Speaking about overcoming the last boss of the game, Demetrious Johnson said,
"Obviously, the biggest thing with Elden Ring is when you get to a certain spot in the game or the boss and you can’t kill it, you can always leave and go do something else and just come back and do it again. But I refuse to do that. That’s what took me three hours to beat the final boss. The game has 238 bosses. On my game I got maybe 38 bosses down. So the game has so much to offer to somebody. My first playthrough took me 54 hours. I don’t know if I should be proud or upset about it."
Elden Ring is a fantasy role-playing game for Xbox, Playstation, and Windows with a story written by Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin.
Demetrious Johnson excited to fight fresh blood after Moraes trilogy
While Demetrious Johnson uses Elden Ring to unwind from training, he’s preparing for his biggest fight to date with ONE Championship- a trilogy fight with Adriano Moraes.
His showdowns with the Brazilian have all come in succession, giving him a lot of cage time with Moraes over the past two years.
In a recent interview with The MMA Superfan, Demetrious Johnson spoke about his excitement for the next chapter:
“Absolutely. I think fighting fresh blood is always good. It doesn't matter who I fight because I'm always going to go out there and bring the fight. You look at all my fights in ONE Championship or in my whole entire career. I've always brought the fight. When I fought Danny Kingad, Yuya Wakamatsu, Tatsumitsu Wada, Adriano, and Rodtang. It doesn't matter who I fight. It's always going to be exciting.”
Sporting a 4-1 record with ONE Championship, plenty of fights remain on the table win or lose against Adriano Moraes.
Many seem to think a fight with Kazakhstan’s Kairat Akhmetov would be next, but in addition, fights with Reece McLaren and cross-discipline fights could make for compelling forays for Demetrious Johnson.
