ONE on Prime Video 5 was another showcase event for Kade and Tye Ruotolo. Both brothers picked up wins on December 2 to continue their incredible runs in 2022. The past 12 months have produced a big year for submission grappling and the Ruotolo twins have been right at the forefront of it all.

Kade Ruotolo has had a star-making year by becoming the youngest ever ADCC world champion and winning the inaugural ONE lightweight submission grappling world championship.

Whilst he was competing on a card co-headlined by his brother, Tye Ruotolo is confident that he isn’t far behind Kade and that soon, the twins will stand side-by-side at the top of the card.

In his post-event press conference, Tye spoke about being patient and waiting for his time to come:

“Like I said, you know, we've both gone through waves of opportunity. Right now, my brother's killing it with the belt in the co-main and for sure, I'd like to be there as well, but I know my opportunity is going to come sooner or later. So as long as I keep doing my thing, keep submitting and putting on good performances, I'll have a belt around my waist and I'll be right there with my brother.”

Tye Ruotolo reveals where he will be spending his $50K bonus, tells brother Kade to "step it up"

At ONE on Prime Video 5, Tye Ruotolo secured another impressive submission victory inside the circle. Tapping former ONE world titleholder Marat Gafurov, Tye picked up a $50,000 performance bonus.

When asked about what he would be spending his bonus on, Tye Ruotolo explained that the money will go towards constructing the Ruotolo brother’s dream gym in Costa Rica, which they are building from scratch.

Tye explained:

"Ooh, that's going towards the gym. We're building our dream gym in Costa Rica. I guess I've contributed a hundred to [Kade's] fifty. So he's got to step it up."

Tye has earned two performance bonuses this year, the first of which coming in his submission win over Garry Tonon. His brother Kade picked up a bonus when he captured the ONE lightweight submission grappling world championship in October and said this in his post-fight interview:

"We’re building a gym out in Costa Rica right now, and we’re kind of putting everything we’ve got into it and that literally just finished it. I’m at a loss for words, thank you so much Chatri and everyone behind ONE. I’m so stoked, I’m so stoked, beyond thankful."
