Nico Carrillo believes his punching skills are "far superior" to Superlek.
In April 2023, Carrillo made his ONE Championship debut, defeating Furkan Karabag by third-round knockout at ONE Friday Fights 13. Since then, the Scottish bantamweight has secured three more Muay Thai wins inside the distance against Muangthai, Nong-O, and Saemapetch.
On January 24, 2025, 'King of the North' has a life-changing opportunity in the ONE 170 co-main event. The 26-year-old looks to become a world champion by taking out two-sport king Superlek for his bantamweight Muay Thai throne.
During an interview with Sky Sports, Carrillo had this to say about Superlek:

"[My punching] is far superior. His kicking might be faster, but it definitely won’t be stronger. But, I’m going to keep him at length."
ONE 170 will take place inside the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand. The January 2025 event can be seen live and for free by North American and Canadian viewers with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
In the main event, Tawanchai will defend his featherweight Muay Thai world title against Jo Nattawut. The Thai strikers have already fought twice in the problem, with Tawanchai winning both, one in Muay Thai and one in kickboxing.

Superlek enters Nico Carrillo fight riding massive wave of momentum
Nico Carrillo's undefeated run, all four by knockout, has been a highly impressive start to his ONE Championship tenure. 'King of the North' must be ready for the toughest test of his fighting career if he wants to defeat Superlek.
Superlek has always been one of the most talented strikers in ONE. Over the past year, the Thai superstar has taken things to another level by defeating Rodtang, Takeru Segawa (kickboxing), Kongthoranee, and Jonathan Haggerty.
Superlek's latest win against Haggerty won't be forgotten, as he defeated the former bantamweight Muay Thai king with a 49-second knockout. 'The Kicking Machine' now looks to add Carrillo to his already legendary resume.
Meanwhile, Carrillo plans to quickly climb the ONE pound-for-pound rankings with an impressive win in the ONE 170 co-main event.
