ONE atomweight Muay Thai prodigy Supergirl Jaroonsak will be facing a familiar foe, Ekaterina Vandaryeva, in the lead card of ONE Fight Night on Prime Video 6. The January 13 bout will be a rematch of their controversial bout early last year at ONE: Heavy Hitters.

The split decision went in Supergirl's favor, though a lot of spectators saw it differently. Come ONE Fight Night 6 in Bangkok, Supergirl will look to win decisively in front of her countrymen.

It's quite obvious that Supergirl Jaroonsak is more motivated than usual ahead of her January 13 bout. Speaking of motivation, the Thai superstar also likes to take inspiration from her sister, fellow ONE Muay Thai fighter Wondergirl Jaroonsak. In an interview with ONE Championship, Supergirl spoke about her sister/teammate:

"My sister is my role model and inspiration to be a Muay Thai fighter. When I started practicing Muay Thai, my father told me to learn all the movements from my sister. Observing her movements gave me a better understanding of Muay Thai."

Supergirl Jaroonsak continued with:

"I want to compete in MMA like her, too, but I’m still inexperienced right now. It will take some time."

In her last outing inside the circle, Wondergirl made her MMA debut by submitting Zeba Bano inside one round. It was quite an achievement for a Muay Thai specialist participating in her first MMA fight. We have a hunch that, if and when Supergirl puts Vandaryeva behind her, she might just transition into MMA after.

ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong believes Ekaterina Vandaryeva beat Supergirl Jaroonsak in first bout

In perhaps the most controversial decision wins in ONE Championship last year, Supergirl Jaroonsak beat Ekaterina Vandaryeva in a razor-close and hotly contested bout.

Fans, fighters, and media personalities were divided on the decision, with some even saying that Vandaryeva handily won the bout. One particular person who believes that the Belarusian won the fight was ONE CEO and Chairman Chatri Sityodtong. He thought the decision was a robbery so much that he awarded Vandaryeva a $50,000 performance bonus instead of Supergirl.

At the post-event media conference of ONE: Heavy Hitters in January last year, Sityodtong spoke about his analysis of the three-round Muay Thai war:

"I thought Ekaterina won easily and she staggered Supergirl and the judges got it wrong. We are going to have to work with other judges. It’s just they made errors, especially in the striking stuff. People might disagree with me but I thought Ekaterina won. I don’t know what the judges are watching."

Sityodtong continued:

"I would want an immediate rematch between Ekaterina and Supergirl. As being someone who does Muay Thai for 35 plus years, I can tell you, Ekaterina won that fight easily. It was not even close."
