Liam Harrison explained how his work ethic prevented him from retiring after he suffered a severe knee injury.
In August 2022, Harrison challenged Nong-O for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title. The UK superstar dreamed of claiming ONE gold but ultimately lost by first-round TKO due to Nong-O's vicious leg kicks. To make matters worse, 'Hitman' suffered a knee injury that required surgery.
Since then, Harrison endured a brutal recovery process to continue his fighting career. During an interview with Yokkao, the 38-year-old had this to say about how his work ethic and training routine made him not want to retire:
"My work ethic has always been second to none. That’s why I said, when I was injured, if I couldn’t train like this and train with the same intensity, same aggression, same speed, same power, I would’ve retired."

Liam Harrison has been scheduled for his highly-anticipated return three times (Pongsiri, John Lineker, and Kastuki Kitano). Unfortunately, the matchups fell through for various reasons, including a shoulder injury in training for his intriguing bout against Lineker in January of this year.

Liam Harrison hopes to end comeback story with knockout win at ONE 168
On September 6, ONE Championship will return to North America for ONE 168: Denver. Along with several other must-see matchups, fans are keeping a close eye on Liam Harrison's first fight since August 2022, a catchweight Muay Thai bout against living legend Seksan.
Heading into ONE 168, Seksan is coming off a shocking unanimous decision loss against Yutano Asahi in April. The 35-year-old looks to bounce back by taking out Harrison and extending his promotional record to 9-1.
Harrison vs Seksan is a matchup both fighters wanted due to their never-ending respect for each other. There's also a chance they decide to end their legendary careers following their bout, regardless of the result.
ONE 168 goes down inside the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado. Tickets for the September 6 event featuring two world title fights can be found on Ticketmaster.
