Newly crowned ONE interim bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Nabil Anane is on cloud nine, following a shocking first-round technical knockout victory over Nico Carrillo last weekend.
The previously no.5-ranked Anane went into his co-main event showdown at ONE 170 against the Scotsman as a heavy underdog. But electrified the stadium when he sent 'King of the North' crashing to the canvas three times to score the finish.
Speaking to veteran ONE Championship broadcast analyst Mitch 'The Dragon' Chilson in the Circle after his match, Anane thanked his team.

The 20-year-old phenom said:
"Thank you, thank you to everyone who has been supporting me. Thank you to my team, they’ve been through hell with me. Thanks to my dad, he’s the one who inspired me, pushed me everyday, seeing me, and trained me in the gym. And my mom, who always cooks me food everyday, thank you very much!"
Anane added:
"Thank you to Khun Chatri for the opportunity and that bonus. Everybody who’s been supporting me, there’s my friends in the crowd too, which is fully packed tonight. I don’t know where you are, but thank you!"
In addition to the interim gold, Anane also took home a cool $50,000 performance bonus for his efforts.
What's next for Nabil Anane?
With his world title-winning victory over Nico Carrillo last weekend at ONE 170, interim bantamweight Muay Thai king Nabil Anane now sets up a highly anticipated rematch against divisional titleholder 'The Kicking Machine' Superlek Kiatmoo9.
The fight is being targeted for ONE 172 in March at Saitama Super Arena, although it has yet to be confirmed.
The six-foot-four-inch tall Anane debuted for ONE Championship in June 2023, losing a first-round knockout to Superlek. He then went on a six-fight winning streak to capture the interim gold.
