Undisputed super bantamweight title: Naoya Inoue vs. Ye Joon Kim
The Naoya Inoue vs. Ye Joon Kim fight will be contested for the Japanese star's undisputed super bantamweight title. While South Korea's Kim is a serviceable boxer, this matchup is regarded as little more than a showcase for Inoue. At 28-0, Inoue is an undefeated sensation.
Moreover, his seismic punching power has enabled him to knock out 25 of his 28 opponents. He is also an exceptionally skilled offensive boxer and may very well walk Kim down with supreme ease. Kim is a successful boxer with a 21-2-2 record but is sorely lacking in serious punching power and experience.
That isn't to say that Kim can't knock his opponents out, but his 61.9% knockout percentage isn't great. He has serviceable power, but nothing spectacular. Certainly, nothing that could earn Inoue's respect. Furthermore, he has suffered losses to opponents of questionable quality and skill.
His lack of experience against top opposition will hurt him against Inoue, one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world. To worsen matters, Kim is also stepping in on short notice, so he has had suboptimal time to prepare for such a daunting task that was meant for Sam Goodman, who pulled out due to a cut.
Barring an outrageous upset, Inoue should stop or outright knock out Kim in the middle rounds.
