Nate Diaz last entered the octagon back in September 2022 as he defeated Tony Ferguson via fourth-round submission at UFC 279. Although he is no longer with the promotion, he was on hand at UFC 310 to support teammate Kron Gracie.
While at the ceremonial weigh-in for the event, Diaz was involved in a water bottle-throwing incident with members of Islam Makhachev's team, who were present for a UFC 311 promotional press conference. He recently reacted to the lightweight champion's story of events, claiming they never crossed paths in an elevator. In a post shared to his Instagram, he stated:
"WTH goin on I didn’t even know Islam was there I don’t even know wich one he is I was just there to corner my boy and these ewalks were looking for thru a bottle at me looking for clout wt* did I do lol😂😂 And I never saw this guy in an elevator ewt* i thought religious people didn’t lie wt* sis happening 😂😂😂 ? Diaz also aimed at Khabib Nurmagomedov for a recent incident where he was removed from a plane. The two camps were involved in an altercation in 2015, where the former allegedly slapped the latter.
What did Islam Makhachev say about Nate Diaz?
Islam Makhachev took aim at Nate Diaz during a recent appearance on the Mighty podcast. Speaking to host Demetrious Johnson, the lightweight champion suggested that the former mixed martial artist thought Khabib Nurmagomedov was with his camp before adding:
"Interesting, maybe five, six months ago, I meet Diaz in the elevator in Wynn hotel. He go to cross to me and say, 'respect, respect', just walk, but what change now? They love when a lot of cameras come, always people change. We don't have something. If I have something with him, I can fix it in the Wynn hotel, but he come to me like two meters. He say, 'respect, respect' and he go."
