Jackie Buntan is ready to carry her natural power to the realm of kickboxing. The Filipino-American star is a longtime competitor in the realm of Muay Thai, but is about to go all-out when she takes on the legendary Anissa Meksen for the inaugural ONE women's strawweight kickboxing world title at ONE 169.

Buntan's career-defining match against Meksen goes down at the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok on Nov. 8.

In an interview with ONE Championship, Buntan said jumping over to kickboxing wouldn't be a problem for her despite fighting under Muay Thai rules for the entirety of her tenure in the promotion.

Jackie Buntan said:

"I’m very confident in the strength and power that I have and the athleticism that I have."

Buntan's world title match against Meksen at ONE 169 will be the second time their showdown was scheduled after their supposed first fight at ONE Fight Night 23 was derailed.

Meksen and Buntan were supposed to clash in July this year, but Buntan pulled out after suffering a toe injury in training.

Nevertheless, Buntan has another chance to showcase her power on Nov. 8 in what will be her second attempt at ONE Championship gold.

Buntan's first crack came against Smilla Sundell for the inaugural ONE women's strawweight Muay Thai world title at ONE 156 in April 2022.

Despite her gritty effort, the six-inch height disadvantage was far too difficult for the 5-foot-4 Buntan to overcome, and she ultimately lost via unanimous decision to Sundell.

Following her lone defeat in ONE Championship, Buntan has racked up three straight wins against Amber Kitchen, Diandra Martin, and Martine Michieletto.

Buntan's matchup against Meksen, and the entire ONE 169 card, are available live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and America.

Jackie Buntan says she's the underdog against Anissa Meksen at ONE 169

Jackie Buntan has all the confidence heading into her world title shot against Anissa Meksen on Nov. 8, but she's also aware that she will be the underdog once they touch gloves in Bangkok.

In the same interview with ONE Championship, Buntan said she's the underdog in her fight against the multi-time world champion:

"On paper, I’m the underdog. It’s my first kickboxing fight. She has more than double the experience. She’s a multiple-time world champion."

Meksen is one of the most decorated strikers in history and has won world titles across WBC Muay Thai, Glory, ISKA, Kunlun, WAKO, and Enfusion.
