Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently made strong comments on The Joe Rogan Experience, where he doubled down on the company's shift in content moderation policies. Zuckerberg framed these changes as a return to Meta’s “roots” of free expression, despite significant backlash from several communities.
His defense of the overhaul, which allows rhetoric that had previously been restricted, was met with accusations that Meta was pandering to far-right ideologies in anticipation of a second Donald Trump administration. Critics also censured Meta’s abandonment of independent fact-checking and adoption of a user-driven system approach. According to several users, the approach could potentially lead to the unchecked spread of misinformation, especially on sensitive topics like LGBTQ+ rights.
Zuckerberg also discussed how martial arts, particularly jiu-jitsu, shaped his views on corporate culture. He suggested that jiu-jitsu helped inculcate a discipline-centric approach that contrasts with the “culturally neutered” environments of many modern workplaces.
Joe Rogan echoed these sentiments during a recent podcast episode with comedian Theo Von. He also credited jiu-jitsu for Zuckerberg's "libertarian" turn, stating:

"Mark Zuckerberg started doing jiu-jitsu and nothing turns you into a libertarian like jiu-jitsu. Nothing turns you into a person who values hard work, and discipline, and struggle like jiu-jitsu. It's an exposure of character. Nothing else is like it. You expose character in a way that's almost impossible, even with other martial arts."

"Weird he didn’t take any of those stances until Kamala [Harris] lost."
"My guess is jiu-jitsu has nothing to do with this movement. He is just adjusting the boat’s position relative to the wind direction to optimize sail performance and maintain momentum. It's all about the money (nothing wrong with that)."
"Bitcoin turns you into a libertarian."

Mark Zuckerberg praises Dana White's business acumen during podcast episode with Joe Rogan
Mark Zuckerberg recently praised Dana White for his leadership in shaping the UFC into a $4 billion business.
During his appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, Zuckerberg acknowledged White’s efforts in building the organization, particularly through challenges and initial resistance from the masses. Speaking about White's credibility as a businessman, Zuckerberg said:
"I mean Dana is like this guy who basically took this sport which was viewed as like this pretty marginal thing when he got started right? I mean what Dana's done with the UFC is like one of the most legendary business stories and the brand is beloved. I think he's just a world-class entrepreneur and he's got a strong backbone."
