Makhachev is currently set to defend his lightweight title against Dustin Poirier at UFC 302 this coming weekend. The 32-year-old is looking to secure his third title defense in a row, whereas Poirier is chasing to become an undisputed champion for the first time in his career.

Ahead of the bouts this weekend, Makhachev and a host of other fighters on the card were tasked with defining different American slang words. Fans then made note of the Russian champ, who was tasked with words such as 'boujee' and 'flex'. In response to both of those, Makhachev said:

Michael Chandler predicts Islam Makhachev vs. Dustin Poirier

Michael Chandler believes Islam Makhachev has Dustin Poirier's "number" and will finish him in their UFC 302 main event.

'The Diamond' has alluded to the fact that this weekend could well be the final time he steps into the octagon. At 35 years old and having come up short twice on his quest for undisputed gold, Poirier has recently stated that he's unwilling to climb the ladder once again.

Ahead of their bout this weekend and amidst Poirier's potential retirement rumors, Chandler spoke to MMA Fighting and cast his prediction for the fight. 'Iron' believes Poirier has a chance, but he ultimately expects Islam Makhachev to walk away victorious. He said:

"The only thing he [Poirier] hasn't done yet is wear the UFC gold, and he wants to. I'm glad he got his shot...Do I give [Poirier] a chance? Absolutely. [But] I think Islam's going to have his number. I think Islam is just better in every area. I think Islam finishes him, honestly."
