UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira recently responded to a post aimed at him from boxing superstar Anthony Joshua. 'AJ' took to X to share that, in his opinion, Pereira should venture into the world of boxing.
"Alex Pereira should make a boxing debut one day."
'Poatan' responded by sharing his interest in the sweet science. Pereira mentioned his age and asked Joshua to recommend an ideal opponent for him.
"I'm honored you think so. It's always been my dream, I'm 37 I cannot make a career in it. So, who do you recommend I fight?"

Interestingly, Pereira has a professional boxing bout on his resume. He took on Marcelo de Souza Cruz in June 2017 and finished him via knockout in the third round. 'Poatan' hasn't competed in the sport since that encounter.
After an illustrious career in kickboxing, the 37-year-old Brazilian managed to successfully translate his skills to MMA and has achieved tremendous success in that sport as well.
Pereira has been a part of 13 MMA fights and won 11 of them. He is currently 8-1 in his UFC career and, during this run, has captured the UFC middleweight and light heavyweight titles.
Pereira's UFC resume includes wins over prominent fighters like Sean Strickland, Israel Adesanya, Jan Blachowicz, Jiri Prochazka and Jamahal Hill.
The Brazilian's most recent outing took place on June 29 as he locked horns against Prochazka for the title on short notice. The fight headlined the UFC 303 card at the T- Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Pereira made light work of his opponent that night and knocked him out in the second round of the fight.
Considering the success 'Poatan' has achieved in MMA in such a short period, it would not be out of the realm of possibility for him to compete in boxing and be successful there.
