UFC superstar Jorge Masvidal's trial has been postponed yet again. Earlier this week, the Miami-Dade County Court postponed the BMF champion's pre-trial date to May 10 with the trial expected to start on May 22.
Last year, the two-time welterweight title challenger got into legal trouble after he allegedly assaulted former friend and fellow UFC welterweight Colby Covington outside a restaurant in Miami.

Masvidal has since pled not guilty to charges of aggravated battery and criminal mischief for the alleged attack.
The UFC fighter's defense attorney, Saam Zangeneh, believes that the case might be resolved before it reaches the court. During this week's hearing, which was attended by MMA Junkie virtually, Zangeneh said:
"We’re not ready [to proceed] either, We have the last round of depositions coming up, and I believe we’re going to be setting up with Mr. Simpson [assistant state attorney at Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office] to see if we can resolve this case."
He added:
"I can tell the court I’m in a multiweek trial in the district of the Virgin Islands starting on the 27th of this month. I think it would be prudent to potentially set this for status at the end of March. I think we may be able to get this resolved." [Transcripts via MMA Junkie]
The MMA star did not attend the hearing in person or virtually.
In his next fight, Jorge Masvidal will face former welterweight title challenger Gilbert Burns at UFC 287. Burns currently holds the No.5 spot in the 170-pound division, while Masvidal is further down at No.11.
Michael Bisping feels a win over Gilbert Burns might put Jorge Masvidal in title contention
Although Jorge Masvidal is currently on a three-fight losing streak, Michael Bisping believes that a win over Gilbert Burns might put the Miami native back in title contention, given his history with welterweight champion Leon Edwards.
During a recent episode of the Believe You Me podcast, Bisping said:
"If he [Masvidal] can beat him [Burns] then all of a sudden he’s right back in contention. Let's remember Leon Edwards is the champ. There is a storyline with Leon Edwards and Jorge Masvidal which goes back to [Masvidal's] Darren Till fight in 2019..."
The former middleweight champion added:
"Leon was talking recently, he wants to fight Masvidal. He wants revenge. He wants to get him back. He assaulted him essentially, he wants to beat him up... Well if he can beat Gilbert Burns, here we go, we never know."

Leon Edwards and Jorge Masvidal got into a backstage brawl at UFC Fight Night 147, which left 'Rocky' with a bloodied face. Since getting his hands on the welterweight title, Edwards has expressed interest in facing Masvidal inside the octagon. A win at UFC 287 could see 'Gamebred' get a third shot at gold.
Notably, Edwards is set to defend his title against Kamaru Usman just weeks before Masvidal's return.
