Both the Ruotolo brothers will be in action at ONE on Prime Video 5: De Ridder vs. Malykhin, as now, even Tye Ruotolo will be fighting on the same card alongside his twin Kade.

ONE Championship announced its latest addition to its fifth foray on US Primetime, pitting the prolific Tye Ruotolo against former ONE featherweight world champion Marat Gafurov in a 180-pound catchweight submission grappling match on the lead card. The 19-year-old Brazilian jiu-jitsu sensation will be joining his sibling Kade Ruotolo, who will also be making the first title defense of his ONE lightweight submission grappling world title against Mattheus Gabriel.

ONE on Prime Video 5 will air live and for free for existing Amazon Prime Video subscribers in North America. It will also take place this December 2 (US Primetime) inside the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.

Following his sensational promotional debut against Garry Tonon at ONE 157, Tye Ruotolo will look to collect his second-straight $50,000 performance bonus by taking out a grizzled veteran and fellow BJJ black belt in Gafurov. Ruotolo, who’s considered one of the brightest young stars in submission grappling alongside his brother, lived up to the hype by submitting Tonon in just 97 seconds.

Standing in his way, though, is the ‘Cobra’, whose 11 of 19 MMA career wins have come by submission. The Russian grappling sensation is eager to get his first victory in grappling-exclusive matches after losing via rear-naked choke to Shinya Aoki back at ONE: Kings of Courage in 2018.

It is worth noting that Gafurov comes from a sambo background, and his match against the BJJ prodigy will add another chapter to ONE’s growing sambo vs. BJJ rivalry.

Tye Ruotolo shows how he sets up his patented D’Arce choke

The Ruotolo brothers have truly mastered the art of the D’Arce choke. In fact, it’s one of the most used moves in their repertoire.

Tye Ruotolo, for one, used impeccable techniques to set up the hold and strangle one of the most recognizable names in no-gi grappling, Garry Tonon. After passing the guard of ‘The Lion Killer’, the Atos star quickly clamped down on his neck. It was a wrap once Ruotolo was able to reach his own bicep from the north-south position and applied a frightening squeeze.

Meanwhile, ONE’s color commentator Mitch Chilson recently offered himself as a crash test dummy for Ruotolo to showcase how he set up his beautiful D’Arce choke. The American showed several entry points for the technique that had Chilson tapping in no time.
