The best picture winner starring Mel Gibson tells the story of William Wallace and Scotland's fight for freedom so it's not surprising that it's become a great source of motivation for Nico Carrillo.
During a recent appearance on the Leather'd Podcast, he spoke about the crucial role that the movie plays in his pre-fight preparations:
"Yes, Braveheart. Absolutely, gets me pumped, even better when I'm fighting English. Honestly, I absolutely love it. It doesn't matter who I'm fighting, I'll always watch Braveheart. Though Braveheart is sure to be playing on a screen near Nico Carrillo ahead of his next fight, he already has all the motivation that he needs.
At ONE 170 on January 24, the Scot will challenge Superlek Kiatmoo9 for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world championship in one of the most highly anticipated striking match-ups of the year.
Carrillo will look to seize the belt at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, before bringing the gold back to his beloved Scotland.
