Islam Makhachev discusses potential rematch with Charles Oliveira and the need for a second belt
Charles Oliveira delivered a spectacular performance at UFC 309 against Michael Chandler, securing a victory via unanimous decision, putting himself back into title contention.
However, reigning lightweight champion Islam Makhachev, speaking to ESPN MMA, expressed that he is tired of giving rematches to fighters. He also stated that there is nothing exciting about fighting Oliveira again since he has already defeated him. Still, he would consider it if UFC CEO Dana White wants the fight. Makhachev said:
"I don't know. If I'm looking behind Arman, if I beat him, I don't know. I'm tired to give somebody rematch, you know? I need the second belt, Belal [Muhammad] there. We will see. A lot of good fighters. Man, I beat him [Charles Oliveira], Arman beat him. It's nothing exciting, you know? Beat him again. But if he wants, if Dana [White] wants, if fans want, why not?"
