Alex Pereira has quickly become one of the most popular UFC fighters for his success in the octagon and humility outside of it. During his infamous trip to Australia during which he received the call to fight Jiri Prochazka on short notice, 'Poatan' made a special trip to Challenge Cancer to visit young patients suffering from the illness.

The visit was documented on June 12 with Pereira visibly emotional from the experience of seeing terminally ill children elated to have him in their presence. The light heavyweight champion posted a highlight video of his time with Challenge Cancer on Instagram on July 19, over a month after the occasion.

Despite its untimeliness, Pereira's post was received warmly by fans and other fighters. Many praised the Brazilian for offering his time to spend with the troubled youth, including UFC influencer Nina-Marie Daniele.

Alex Pereira's UFC 303 win

Just 17 days after he visited the Challenge Cancer Hospital, Alex Pereira headlined UFC 303 against Jiri Prochazka. The fight was his second straight short-notice main event after accepting a headlining fight with Jamahal Hill at UFC 300.

Pereira defended his light heavyweight title by second-round knockout with a head kick followed up by ground-and-pound.

The win was just the 11th of his professional MMA career and eighth in the UFC but was already his fourth championship victory. It also marked his sixth win over a current or former UFC champion.

Pereira and his team have publicly stated that they want to take a small break until the end of the year before returning to hopefully defend his 205-pound title once more.
