Khabib Nurmagomedov's disciplined training approach sets clear expectations for everyone in the gym, including his former manager, Ali Abdelaziz. 'The Eagle' is currently overseeing the final stages of training for his Dagestani teammates—Islam Makhachev, Umar Nurmagomedov, and Tagir Ulanbekov—as they gear up for their respective bouts at UFC 311 this weekend.
American Kickboxing Academy head coach Javier Mendez recently shared a video on Instagram from his team’s training session at the UFC Performance Institute. In the clip, Mendez playfully questioned the UFC Hall of Famer about why he had been tough on Abdelaziz.
Nurmagomedov responded that the esteemed MMA agent should leave talking to the coaches and focus solely on listening while in the gym:
"Coach because when he steps on the mat, he has to better be quiet and listen to coaches. We are coaches. He is not a coach. When he steps on the mat like a student, [he needs to] shut up and train… [Ali] doesn’t have a choice."

Nurmagomedov's close friend, reigning UFC lightweight champion Makhachev, will make his fourth title defense against Arman Tsarukyan in the main event of UFC 311. Meanwhile, his younger cousin, Umar, is set to challenge UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili in the co-main event.
Additionally, another Team Khabib member, Ulanbekov, is set to take on Clayton Carpenter in a flyweight showdown during the early prelims of the evening.
Ali Abdelaziz claims Umar can break Khabib Nurmagomedov’s 29-0 legacy
Umar represents the next generation of fighters in the legendary Nurmagomedov family. So far, he has more than lived up to the prestigious legacy, boasting an undefeated professional record of 18-0.
During a recent interview with MMA Junkie, Ali Abdelaziz confidently stated that Umar possesses the qualities needed to replicate his cousin's success and potentially even surpass Khabib Nurmagomedov's remarkable 29-0 record:
"There’s no doubt in my mind Umar will be a champion at 135 pounds, and I believe Umar is going to be a champion for a long time. I think Umar is the only guy who can really challenge Khabib’s record. He can retire undefeated, 29-0, 30-0. Of course, he has a tough opponent, but I believe Umar is better everywhere."
