Ahead of his UFC 309 comeback, Jon Jones surprised fans with a notably lower grip strength score than both Francis Ngannou and Alex Pereira. Jones, who will defend his heavyweight title for the first time, participated in the same grip strength test taken by Pereira before his title defense at UFC 307.
Pereira posted an impressive 159.2, with Khalil Rountree Jr. leading the pack at 166.2. However, when Jones attempted the test, he managed a score of just 132.8, leaving many fans stunned. Ngannou, who previously participated in the same test, had scored 177, further highlighting Jones' relatively low result.
Fans quickly reacted on social media with one individual stating:

Jon Jones opens up on the fight that "unleashed" his "self-belief"
Jon Jones credits his first UFC title win over Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua as the turning point that ignited his self-belief and set him on the path to MMA greatness. In a recent interview with ESPN MMA, the 37-year-old explained that dominating an idol like Rua gave him the confidence to believe he could defeat other big names in the sport.
Jones’ victory at UFC 128, which saw him take the title in a stunning display of skill, began with an explosive flying knee. From there, he controlled Rua both on the feet and the ground, eventually finishing the fight with a third-round knockout.
Reflecting on the fight, Jones said:
"To dominate him the way that I did, to take one of my idols and make him a rival, it just unleashed this self-belief inside of me where I knew I would be beating more famous people in the future."
