Jean Silva overcame a lot of adversity early in the fight to secure his finish in the final round against Drew Dober last weekend. At UFC Denver on July 13, Silva emerged victorious over Dober but fractured both of his hands in the process.

The explosive combatant shared x-rays on social media of the injuries that were sustained and revealed that both of these setbacks happened in the very first round of the contest.

Several X users responded to this shocking revelation and the combat sports aficionados sounded off about what Silva was able to overcome to beat a proven lightweight in the UFC.

Jean Silva and his riveting UFC run so far

Although it looks like these injuries will keep him on the sidelines for some time, Jean Silva has had an active year since debuting on the promotion's main stage in 2024.

The 27-year-old won his Contender Series fight against Kevin Vallejos via unanimous decision in September of last year. This is the last time, as of this writing, that Silva has encroached to the final bell and has a one hundred percent finishing rate in his UFC run since getting signed off of Contender Series.

He stopped Westin Wilson with strikes in the final minute of round one in his January UFC debut. This took place at UFC Fight Night: Ankalaev vs Walker II.

The sophomore octagon outing for Silva would transpire on a massive international fight week card, and he had one of the more standout performances from that tentpole event.

The native of Brazil emphatically stopped Charles Jourdain with an uppercut in the second stanza during their UFC 303 bout that took place on the preliminary portion of the June 29 card.

He then took on his third fight of the calendar year so far and jumped up a division a couple of weeks after the Jourdain fight. This was that aforementioned Drew Dober bout at UFC Denver that saw Silva win via a third-round doctor stoppage. This came after a massive cut saw Dober don the crimson mask, which caused the lightweight matchup to be waved off.
