Nong-O Hama has taken note of Jonathan Haggerty’s most dangerous weapon ahead of their main event showdown next month.
On April 21, ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Nong-O Hama will return to the circle for a highly anticipated clash with British striker Jonathan ‘The General’ Haggerty. The two heavy hitters will clash in the main event of ONE Fight Night 9 on Prime Video. Emanating from the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Haggerty will attempt to do what no man has under the ONE Championship banner; hand Nong-O a loss in the art of eight limbs.
Deep in preparation for another massive ONE world title defense, the bantamweight Muay Thai champion has been immersing himself in his opponent’s work and believes he has spotted the Brit's most dangerous weapon.
“The main thing I’ve noticed is that he uses a lot of elbows, especially spinning back elbows, so I will need to look out for those,” Nong-O noted in an interview with ONE Championship.

Nong-O Hama has an incredible 265 career wins with the last 10 coming inside the circle. In January, the Thai superstar kicked off ONE’s Friday Fights series at Lumpinee Stadium with a third-round knockout of Alaverdi Ramaznov. Three months later, he’ll return to the scene of the crime with the hopes of doing it once again against the former ONE flyweight titleholder.
ONE Fight Night 9 will broadcast live and for free on Prime Video to all Amazon subscribers in North America on Friday, April 21.
Jonathan Haggerty has been on Nong-O Hama’s radar for some time
Despite being in two separate weight classes, Nong-O Hama admitted that he has had his eye on Jonathan Haggerty for quite some time. In his conversation with the promotion, the champion revealed that he had been keen on ‘The General’ going back to his Muay Thai wars with ‘The Iron Man’ Rodtang Jitmuangnon.
“I’ve been watching Haggerty for a long time now, going back to his world title fights against Rodtang,” Nong-O admitted. “He’s very skilled and uses many different Muay Thai techniques.”
‘The General’ met Rodtang in back-to-back bouts between August 2019 and January 2020. Haggerty entered their first meeting as the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion, but a unanimous decision in favor of Rodtang kicked off the era of ‘The Iron Man.’ Considering the close nature of the contest, Haggerty received an opportunity to reclaim ONE gold. Things were much more decisive in the rematch.
Rodtang delivered an iconic performance that saw him put away the British striker via knockout in the third round.
