In an interview with his new home, Soldic spoke about the early days of his MMA training and how things weren’t always on the level that he is at now:

“And then my friend won, Ivo, he was also an MMA fighter and he’s retired now, he's like 38. He started first and then we followed him. He was also a security guard, you know? [He worked] in the club, and I said to him, ‘I want to train with you.’ He was a heavyweight, I was like 70 kilos. And then I started to do strength and conditioning, judo, do pads. I had two, three guys, they hold for me, just old school. That was 2012, so not professional like today. It was very hard.”
