A heated debate among netizens has been triggered by a former politician's recent remarks regarding US bombings in Serbia in 1999. Many voiced their wrath, claiming that the person doesn't know the complete picture, while others expressed admiration for the individual's courage to speak up.
The person in question is former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich, who was imprisoned in 2012 for corruption. Blagojevich recently made an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience and discussed the 1999 NATO bombing of Serbia, while citing his Serbian background.
''My father came from Serbia and I'd like to try raise public awareness about the place of Serbia, in the Balkans. It's a country that we bombed. In 1999, the United States and NATO bombed Serbia without the United Nations' approval the way Russia's invaded Ukraine...They were trying to force the Serbian government to give up a part of their country, Kosovo. Give it up. That would be like NATO threatening to bomb us to say give up Texas to Mexico.''
