UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev showcased another dominant display at UFC 311 where he finished Renato Moicano in the first round via a D'arce choke. Makhachev had been preparing for Arman Tsarukyan for over three months, but the Armenian fighter pulled out on weigh-in day due to a back injury.
Makhachev had to deal with a change of opponent on a day's notice and still delivered a dominant performance. After the fight, he spoke to Red Corner MMA when he pulled out his phone to send a picture to his mother. He said:
"I need to send mom a photo. She wants to know i took no damage because she doesn't watch my fights."

UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev made himself a strong contender for the conversation of best lightweight in UFC history. The Dagestan native now has four successful title defenses, breaking the record of his coach, Khabib Nurmagomedov, who defended his crown three times.
Makhachev's title fights have been nothing short of impressive. After dominantly winning the belt against Charles Oliveira, Makhachev snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, winning a close encounter with Alexander Volkanovski.
In the subsequent rematch, he knocked out the Aussie in the first round. Makhachev went into deep waters in his next defense against Dustin Poirier and finished him in the fifth round after a thrilling encounter. The win against Moicano was the lightweight champion's fourth successful defense.
