Conor McGregor reportedly pocketed $1,625,000 after betting $500,000 on the Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal boxing match, favoring his old rival from Stockton to emerge victorious. The Irishman was proven right but reacted to the large sum he earned by referring to it as the money he'd spend on fuel for his yacht.
He said as much on X in typical McGregor fashion, after Diaz defeated Masvidal via majority decision. While the bad blood is no more, things appear to remain unsettled between both men, as Masvidal believes he had done enough to win and spoke of a trilogy bout.
Yet, a large chunk of fan attention wasn't paid to his remarks. Instead, many flocked to X to respond to McGregor's claim that his winnings from betting on Diaz amounted to little more than fuel for his Lamborghini Tecnomar yacht. This stunned fans of the Irishman, who marveled at his wealth.

Whether McGregor will continue this trend of betting remains to be seen, but the world of MMA betting is not new, with Canadian rapper Drake being among the most infamous bettors due to how often his predictions turn out to be incorrect.
Conor McGregor congratulated Nate Diaz on the win
Following Nate Diaz's majority decision win over Jorge Masvidal, Conor McGregor took to X to brag about the money he earned from betting on him, before congratulating his rival, all in the same tweet.
"THE RICH GET RICHER!!! Well done Nate, congrats!"
Whether the two men will eventually cross paths again remains to be seen. There has been mutual interest in a trilogy bout, but strangely Diaz did not mention 'The Notorious' in his post-fight interview, calling out UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards and Jake Paul instead.
