"Old man Volk knows best" - Fans react as Alexander Volkanovski nails perfect prediction for Merab Dvalishvili's UFC 311 win over Umar Nurmagomedov

MMA fans recently expressed their opinions after noticing how Alexander Volkanovski's prediction for the Merab Dvalishvili vs. Umar Nurmagomedov fight turned out to be a perfect one.

A few days back, 'The Great' uploaded a video on his YouTube channel where he broke down the top four encounters of the UFC 311 main card, including the main and co-main events.

Despite a large chunk of fans viewing Nurmagomedov as the favorite, Volkanovski opined that Dvalishvili's wrestling pedigree would neutralize Nurmagomedov's skills on the ground. The former featherweight champ also counted Dvalishvili's seemingly infinite gas tank as a major advantage over his rival. He said:

"All those guys, Islam, Khabib, and even Umar - very, very safe fighters. Even if they want to pressure, they do everything without taking too much risk… They’re not used to someone… [like] Merab, [who] will take risk. He puts forward a lot of pressure. He did a great job against Sean O’Malley [at UFC 306]."

The fight played out exactly how Volkanovski predicted. Umar found success with his striking in the initial rounds. But he failed to cope with Dvalishvili's constant pressure and takedowns in the last three rounds of the fight. The encounter eventually ended with a unanimous decision victory for Volkanovski's chosen one.

A recent Instagram post from the Australian highlighted the section of his YouTube video where he gave his prediction for the Dvalishvili vs. Nurmagomedov fight.

Volkanovski's post garnered a plethora of appreciative comments from the fans for his accurate prediction. A few of them read:
