ONE Championship fans will get to see a submission grappling rematch for the ages soon. That's because Brazilian jiu-jitsu megastars Gabriel Sousa and Mikey Musumeci will renew hostilities at ONE 167 on June 7.

With this being the ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion's bantamweight debut, there is reason to believe that Sousa will have a slight advantage.

However, the Brazilan star knows that such an advantage against 'Darth Rigatoni' matters little and said as much in an interview with Vitor Freitas Comunica:

"We are training a lot to avoid getting into a bad position, but if we get there, we are doing a lot of specific work to make the correct defense."

They first squared off against one another in 2021 as part of FloGrappling WNO Championship. It turned out to be an upset victory for Sousa as he locked in a north-south choke.

With Musumeci eager to avenge that loss, Gabriel Sousa will need to have a ton of contingencies in his back pocket to best prepare for the ONE world champion.

Gabriel Sousa breaks down how he broke through Mikey Musumeci's guard

Sousa having the distinction of submitting Musumeci will surely have the fans inside the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, looking forward to seeing it happen again.

The Brazilian athlete shared on his YouTube account exactly how he was able to overcome Musumeci's stout defense the first time around:

"The mindset I use fighting against Mikey was always going to the outside pass because he's very flexible and his leg attacks are very good, so I'm always trying to get him on his side. The first time I pass his guard, I always pin the bottom leg just to avoid him squaring up on my hip or my knee."

ONE 167 will air live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
