Filipino-American sensation Jackie Buntan wants to move a step closer to greatness. She believes that journey begins with a win over Anissa Meksen at ONE 169 on Nov. 8.

That evening inside the hallowed grounds of the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, the Boxing Works representative hopes to put the legendary French-Algerian striker away to become the inaugural ONE women's strawweight kickboxing world champion.

Reflecting on what it would mean to get her hand raised with gold wrapped around her waist, Jackie Buntan told ABS-CBN News:

"There's more to it [than just winning a world title]. But that's obviously the end goal, is you want to work toward something that solidifies your greatness, that solidifies your name in the sport."

"This is just the stepping stone, the first step in order to do that," she added.

Unlike Buntan, Meksen, of course, has won everything there is in the striking realm, barring the ONE world title that she so desperately wants to add to her collection.

The 36-year-old has been in tip-top form throughout her tenure in ONE Championship, and she'd want to make her run even more memorable with a victory over Buntan on fight night.

But, regardless of the experience Meksen brings, Buntan is more than game to find a way to shut down 'C18' and pick up the biggest triumph of her journey at ONE 169 on Nov. 8.

Jackie Buntan says her power will just be as potent in bigger kickboxing gloves against Anissa Meksen

Despite this being her first time competing in bigger gloves in the promotion — Jackie Buntan has only fought Muay Thai in four-ounce gloves. She remains confident that her punching power will give her an advantage over Meksen.

In the same interview with ABS-CBN News, the 27-year-old continued:

"I think, just like all my matches, that's definitely going to be one of my strong suits. It doesn't matter that the gloves are bigger. I think the strength is still going to be there."

North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription can catch the entire ONE 169 card live in U.S. primetime for free on Friday, Nov. 8.
