Alex Pereira is currently training at high altitude in Salt Lake City, Utah, where his next fight at UFC 307 takes place. A compilation video of his training has made the rounds on social media, and one moment involving a moose has left many scratching their heads given the potential danger 'Poatan' exposed himself to.
One of the clips featured a shirtless Pereira posing in front of a wild moose standing just a few feet away. While moose are herbivores, they are very large, powerful animals that weigh between 400 to 1000 pounds. Moreover, they can become aggressive when startled or provoked.

In fact, moose are responsible for more attacks on humans in North America than both bears and wolves combined. Fortunately, Pereira was spared potential death as the moose in question did not attack him.
Fans, however, noted the risky behavior the UFC light heavyweight champion exhibited:
"Mans is lucky he didn't get left hoofed by a cow moose"
The danger Pereira had exposed himself to was also commented on by others:
"Those moose there are lethal"
This was also observed by another user, who felt relief that Pereira survived his encounter with one of the most dangerous mammals in the Americas:
"Lmfao he was one bad moment away from total mauling and death."
Pereira's close brush with a serious injury at best was remarked by many more:
"Moose woulda got on yo *ss quick"

Fortunately, nothing occurred between Pereira and the moose, and his light heavyweight title defense at UFC 307 against Khalil Rountree remains intact. The matchup serves as the event headliner on Oct. 5 and is expected to be a thunderous striking clash.
Alex Pereira has fought in Salt Lake City before
While Alex Pereira is set to fight in Salt Lake City on Oct. 5, it isn't the first time he has fought in the city.
In fact, 'Poatan' earned his crack at light heavyweight gold in Salt Lake City by beating ex-205-pound champion Jan Błachowicz via split decision.
The same cannot be said for his UFC 307 opponent Khalil Rountree, who has never fought in Utah and may be unaccustomed to the high-altitude demands of Salt Lake City.
