ONE Championship's upcoming event in the Middle East is going to be another massive night of pure martial arts bliss based on the two headlining acts of the promotion's return to Lusail Sports Arena in Qatar.
ONE 171: Qatar will be headlined by Jonathan Haggerty's first bantamweight kickboxing world title defense against No.1-ranked contender Wei Rui on February 20, 2025.
Even ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong revealed his excitement for this incredible main event, where 'The General' will face a formidable adversary from China known as 'Demon Blade'.

The promotion's head honcho said in a ONE Championship press release:
“Qatar is already shaping up to be one of the biggest spectacles of the year. Jonathan Haggerty is a certified superstar, but he is set to face one of his toughest tests yet in Chinese icon Wei Rui.”
After losing his two-sport world champion status, Haggerty is out for vengeance and wants to make sure the bantamweight kickboxing belt will stay in the United Kingdom.
However, Wei Rui, a former K-1 world champion, wants to grow his legacy and add 26 pounds of gold from the home of martial arts to his growing collection.

The undisputed ONE strawweight MMA world champion will be crowned in the co-main event of ONE 171.
The 125-pound division's kingpin, Joshua Pacio, will meet his heated rival interim champ Jarred Brooks in a trilogy for the ages.
Sityodtong, for one, can't wait to see how this grudge match will unfold given the shared history between these two fierce combatants.
