ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong expects this Friday night’s submission grappling world title fight to end with a spectacular finish.
The promotion’s first-ever ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion, Mikey Musumeci, will put his belt on the line against Gantumur Bayanduuren. As a Sambo world champion and a BJJ practitioner, Bayanduuren is well-versed in the best of both worlds and represents the toughest test of Musumeci’s career thus far.
Speaking at the ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video press conference, Sityodtong delivered his prediction for Musumeci vs. Bayanduuren, saying:
“Of course, if you look at the rest of the card, we have pound-for-pound Mikey Musumeci, the great five-time jiu-jitsu world champion... In my mind, technically speaking, he’s the pound-for-pound greatest on the planet right now. But he has a massive threat in a great Sambo world champion. This is going to be an all-out war and I don’t think it’s going to finish on a decision, it’s going to finish on a submission as well.”

Mikey Musumeci will look to secure his third win inside the circle and 60th overall after capturing the inaugural lightweight title in decisive fashion against Cleber Sousa at ONE on Prime Video 2 in September.
His Mongolian challenger will be making his promotional debut, but enters the bout with 28 career wins in combat sambo competition.
ONE world champion Mikey Musumeci wants to be the nice guy of BJJ
Mikey Musumeci wants to do his part to show the world that combat sports are full of ordinary everyday people and not the arrogant stereotypes that are often seen or reported in the media.
In an interview with Fightlore, ‘Darth Rigatoni’ shared his desire to be the welcoming face of BJJ as a way to help grow the sport and encourage people to explore the art form:
"The way I like to give back to the community is showing people, like a different audience, can also do jiu-jitsu, you know? When some people think of combat sports, they think of these tough, arrogant kind of people, you know?"
He added:
"And I’m really not like that. I feel like I can show others that they can do it as well. And that will get people to do jiu-jitsu."
