ONE Championship releases video of Sage Northcutt exchanging knowledge with AEW’s Malakai Black

Sage Northcutt is set to make his much-awaited return to action in two months’ time and is deep in training with his team. He is also getting added help from other sources to make his game more rounded.

The Team Alpha Male fighter plunges back into the Circle on May 5 at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video in Colorado, U.S.A. He will take on Pakistan’s Ahmed Mujtaba in a lightweight clash, part of the ONE Championship’s first-ever United States on-ground live event.

It will mark Sage Northcutt’s comeback after four years away from competing due to various medical issues.

To make it a winning return for him, 'Super' is leaving no stone unturned in training with his crew at their gym in Sacramento, California, while also engaging in the assistance of athletes from other disciplines.

ONE recently posted a video on its YouTube channel showing Northcutt training together with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) champion fighter Malakai Black.

In the video, the two can be seen trading tips and sharing their favorite fighting techniques. It ended with Malakai Black wishing Northcutt the best for his long-awaited return to fighting.

Northcutt made his promotional debut in May 2019, losing to Brazilian Cosmo Alexandre by way of a first-round knockout. It proved even worse for the former as he suffered multiple facial fractures that required considerable recovery time.

Waiting for Northcutt is Ahmed Mujtaba, who has won back-to-back matches, both by stoppage, and is looking to further solidify his standing in the lightweight division.

ONE Fight Night 10 will take place at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado. It will be aired live and for free to all North American fans with an active Prime Video subscription.

Sage Northcutt eager to remind fans what he's capable of as a fighter, regardless of KO loss in ONE debut

Sage Northcutt saw his ONE Championship journey take an unfortunate detour right at the get-go because of injury. Now that he is healthy, he cannot wait to make another go at it.

'Super' spent a lot of time on the sidelines recovering from multiple facial fractures in the aftermath of his knockout loss to Cosmo Alexandre in his ONE debut in May 2019.

It was a juncture in his career that he looks back on with regret. He shared this in an interview with The MMA Hour, saying:

“You asked about fans maybe forgetting or someone that might not know [me]. That’s the thing, I feel like coming into ONE Championship, I didn’t really get to show what I truly can do. And it was unfortunate what happened in my first fight with ONE Championship.”
