Danny Kingad displayed his absolute class when he scored a dominant unanimous decision win over Eko Roni Saputra in their flyweight mixed martial arts match at ONE Fight Night 7: Lineker vs. Andrade II.
In front of a hyped-up Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, Kingad showed the clinical pace that’s made him such a dangerous fighter in ONE Championship’s stacked flyweight division.
The first round started slowly with both fighters testing each other’s wrestling acumen. Kingad, though, turned things up a notch in the second round and showed the impressive striking game that fighters from the Philippines’ Team Lakay have been known for.

Kingad planted Saputra with a quick takedown early in the fight, but he immediately resorted to using his creative striking against the surging Indonesian.
‘The King’ started working Saputra’s midsection with a variety of strikes before landing a swift spinning back fist that rocked Saputra.
Saputra, sensing that he was behind in the fight, pulled out all tricks in his bag and tried to jump on Kingad twice. Both occasions had Kingad get the upper hand and the No.3 flyweight contender even caught Saputra in a rear naked choke.
The commanding win was Danny Kingad’s 11th in ONE Championship and it also put him in a strong position for another potential world title hunt in the flyweight division.
Saputra, meanwhile, had his seven-fight winning streak broken.
Danny Kingad admits putting heavy work on his ground game
While Team Lakay fighters are known as some of the most fearsome MMA strikers in the world, Kingad seems to have bucked the trend.
The 27-year-old is still one of the most creative strikers in ONE Championship but he also uses a grappling-heavy style during his fights.
During his post-fight interview with Mitch Chilson, Danny Kingad said that he’s focused more on developing his wrestling while preparing for his fight against Eko Roni Saputra.
Kingad added that he was greatly motivated to further his grappling after he lost to former ONE flyweight world champion Kairat Akhmetov in his last match:
“[I worked hard] on my ground game, my takedown defense, and my takedowns. I prepared it since I got defeated by Kairat, I was motivated by it. [That’s why] I always prepare my ground game and takedowns.”
He added:
“Thank God I made it, thank you ONE Championship. The Philippines, my fellow Filipinos, thank you so much for the support!"
