ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion Mikey Musumeci is coming off a dominant unanimous decision victory over Mongolian challenger Gantumur Bayanduuren in their title clash at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video in Bangkok earlier this month.
He has been vocal about his wish to be a part of ONE’s landmark show on US soil and join top athletes in showcasing what the organization has to offer to its American fans.
ONE is set to arrive in US on May 5 for ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video in Broomfield, Colorado. The event is happening at 1stBank Center and is headlined by the trilogy fight between ONE flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson and rival Adriano Moraes.
If Mikey Musumeci is included in the US card, he will join the likes of Sage Northcutt and Stamp Fairtex, who have already booked a spot in the event.
Prior to making his ONE debut in 2022, Mikey Musumeci was already a decorated Brazilian jiu-jitsu athlete, including winning five International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation world championships while representing the United States.
Mikey Musumeci says Osamah Almarwai could be up next
While there is no word yet as to who will be Mikey Musumenci's next opponent, he has his sights set on a possible showdown with International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation world champion Osamah Almarwai.
In the post-fight interview following his successful title defense over Mongolian challenger Gantumur Bayanduuren at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video, ‘Darth Rigatoni’ said a clash with Almarwai next makes sense:
“So there's this guy that just won a No-Gi black belt Worlds in my division named Osamah [Almarwai]. He's the first black belt world champion from the Middle East. He lives in San Diego and trains in ATOS.”
Mikey Musumeci added:
“I feel like we would have a great match together, the current No-Gi world champion versus me. I feel like that would just make sense. So possibly, that would be my next match. But again, there are so many tough guys. Whoever they want me to face. I'm here.”

Almarwai is a BJJ black belt representing Atos Academy and is the first Yemeni to capture an IBJJF world championship.
If ONE makes this blockbuster fight happen in time for its first-ever event in the United States, it could be a monumental match for the submission grappling division.
Mikey Musumeci has been on a roll since signing up with ONE last year. He has racked up three straight wins, all in convincing fashion and won the flyweight submission grappling world title over Brazilian Cleber Sousa by unanimous decision last September.
